Parents are eligible to claim child benefit if they are responsible for one or more children under the age of 16, or under 20 where the child remains in approved education or training. Child benefit is payable at the rate of £20.70 per week for the first child, and £13.70 for each additional child. There is no limit on the number of children in respect of whom child benefit can be claimed. Only one person can claim child benefit in respect of the same child.
