Do I pay capital gains tax on my inheritance if I use it to purchase somewhere to live?

Question:

If I use my inheritance money to buy somewhere to live in, am I liable to pay capital gains tax (CGT) on my inheritance?

If you use your inheritance money to buy somewhere to live, there should be no CGT when you eventually sell the property. But this has not got anything to do with the fact that you bought the property with inheritance money. You should not pay any CGT because you lived in the property as your main residence, and so it will be eligible for principal private residence relief.
