I am going to rent out a property that had a huge bit of land attached to it, a much bigger back garden and driveway, but now a house is being built onto it (which I am fine with, as the property was too big). Will this change the tax that I pay on the property? The house was originally number 50 and now next to it is 50A.
Arthur Weller replies:
What the tenant does with the property they are renting from you is not directly relevant to you. See www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/property-incomemanual/pim1051. You only need to be concerned with the amount of money you receive from your land.
